"I am proud to be part of the shared goals of the Foundation and Ravenswood City School District."
- Lupe A. Martinez, Parent Outreach Coordinator, a position funded by REF.

We work closely with Ravenswood City School District leaders to provide support for programs and services that directly serve the District’s long-term improvement strategy, which currently include:
- Funding a Parent Engagment Program whereby the Foundation supports the District goal of increasing parent involvement at each site by 60% as measured by attendance and surveys (e.g. Parent Governance Activities, Parent Volunteer Activities and Parent Education).
- Funding a Literacy Coordinator to ensure teachers receive professional guidance in reading and language arts programs. With a literacy coach, teachers receive hands-on interactive training, individual classroom coaching, and custom workshops to meet District and staff needs.
- Funding an Extended School Day for 6-8th graders at Cesar Chavez, SF 49er/Costano and Belle Haven. Students receive critical and intensive instruction time with teacher's in either elongated or additional periods after school.
- Funding Summer Academies at three schools where students will receive three weeks of intensive instruction prior to the 2010 academic year.
- Funding 8th Grade Transition Support at SF 49er/Costano, Ronald McNair and Belle Haven.
- Supporting a Teacher Retention Program that includes free Resource Area for Teaching (RAFT) memberships, teacher achievement awards, technology professional developent and classroom volunteer support.
