REF Updates

Thank you Ravenswood Community

Earlier this week, we prepared the message below celebrating the partnership, energy and success of REF’s spring fundraiser. However, we can’t send out this happy news without acknowledging the recent devastating violence. Schools must be safe places for students to learn, and schools must be places where we teach and support the next generation to make safe, healthy choices. There is so much work to be done. As we search for meaning and a path forward, I find some solace knowing that we are in this fight together.

Dear Community,

Thank you for an incredible night supporting Ravenswood students, families, teachers and staff! There was magic in the air at EPACENTER created by people truly coming together for the greater good. There was so much excitement, from the talented Cesar Chavez Ravenswood Middle School jazz band to the award winning Ravenswood robotics team and the video of Breanna and her teacher Ms. Andrea Reyna.  The stars of the night were certainly Belle Haven second grader Jaila Powell, School Board President Mele Latu, and Superintendent Gina Sudaria. I hope you left inspired by all the good work happening in Ravenswood and proud of your role in making it possible

And drumroll please… together, we raised a record-breaking $960,000 to provide critical programs including literacy and math support, arts and music instruction, professional development opportunities and so much more! Your generosity also enables REF to invest in the ambitious new Ravenswood Talent Initiative to retain, recruit and reward Ravenswood teachers. On behalf of everyone at REF, thank you for making Thursday such a fun, impactful night!

For those who couldn’t join us, or if you just want to relive the magic, please:
Watch the video featuring 8th grade student Breanna and her teacher Ms. Andrea Reyna sharing about the impact that teachers make (and how REF supports them).
